Gordon Brown a year of Drift, Dither and Failure11.45.30am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 30th Jun 2008 Stockport has not benefited from Gordon Brown's leadership, claim local Liberal Democrats. On 27th June last year Labour MPs unanimously made Mr Brown Prime Minister, But one year on there is little to celebrate. Local Liberal Democrats are unhappy about Mr Brown's Government and have argued strongly that Stockport has not benefited from his year at number 10 Downing Street. Stuart Bodsworth Parliamentary spokesperson for Stockport said, "Gordon Brown wanted the big job so much for so long it's sad, but he now has to accept he's simply not up to it!" "When the economy was going well Gordon Brown claimed all the credit now that his failures are coming home to roost Labour are blaming everyone but themselves. As the Chancellor and his assistant Ann Coffey MP preside over the unravelling of the economy the least well off in our society are increasingly being asked to foot the bill. "Thousands of local residents on low incomes continue to be worse off under Gordon Brown's 10p tax grab, despite the panic concessions last month. "Instead of the strong leadership claims Labour spun last year, we have endured months of dithering, indecision and a chaotic government under Prime Minister Brown. He seems more like a rabbit frozen in the headlights rather than a person giving leadership to the country. "As I go around Stockport speaking to residents, I find more and more that disappointment is turning to anger as matters get worse under Gordon Brown."
