Stockport Town Centre Regeneration : Stockport's biggest ever retail expansion came a step closer this week, with the signing of the formal cooperation agreement between Stockport Council and Lend Lease.9.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 25th Aug 2006
Lend Lease has been appointed as the Council's preferred developer for the development of Bridgefield Street, the prime site within the Councils £500 million vision for the transformation of the town centre. The development of Bridgefield Street is at the heart of the Council's regeneration plan - Future Stockport- which will create a lively destination for residents, workers and visitors, with a vibrant mix of retail , residential and leisure activities. ( Interestingly both Stockport Council and Bovis Lend Lease were two of only eight organisations in the country which won Green Apple Awards for waste management last year.) Cllr Susan Derbyshire -Executive Councillor (Regeneration) states " This is an exciting time for Stockport"
