Stockport Parliamentary constituency lies entirely within the Metropolitan borough of Stockport. Stockport Council is controlled by a Liberal Democrat majority and has been independently assessed as a four star excellent authority.

The rest of Stockport Council is made up of the Cheadle Constituency (Lib Dem), Hazel Grove Constituency (Lib Dem) and a part of the Denton and Reddish constituency (Labour)

Stockport constituency is made up of 6 council wards, Manor, Davenport & Cale Green, Edgeley & Cheadle Heath, Heatons North and Heatons South.

The Liberal Democrat MEP for the North West of England is Chris Davies his office is located at 87A Castle Street, Edgeley, Stockport.
